USCIS Removes 60-Day Signature Rule for Civil Surgeons on Form I-693

On March 31, 2023, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) removed the 60-day rule for civil surgeon signatures on Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record

Before this change, the Form I-693 was only acceptable for green card applications if it was submitted to USCIS within 60 days of the date signed by the civil surgeon. If more than 60 days had passed since the civil surgeon signed the applicant’s Form I-693 when the form was submitted, the examination was considered expired and USCIS required applicants to provide a new medical examination.

USCIS removed this 60-day rule permanently and now accepts Form I-693 medical examinations up to two years after the date of the civil surgeon’s signature. This change reduces the processing delays previously caused by Requests for Evidence (RFE) notices requiring applicants to submit a new examination. This policy change went into effect on March 31, 2023.
