USCIS Extends Status from 12 to 24 Months for Green Card Renewals

US Lawful Permanent Residents seeking to renew their permanent resident card (green card) will now have their status automatically extended for 24 months (previously, 12 months) after filing Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card.  On September 26, 2022, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) started issuing Form I-90 receipt notices for new and pending green card renewal applications to update the extension from 12 to 24 months after the green card’s stated expiration date.
