USCIS Extends Conditional Residence Status Extension for Pending I-751 and I-829 Forms from 18 to 24 Months

On September 3, 2021, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a new decision for conditional permanent residents who properly file a Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence or I-829, Petition by Investor to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status. When a conditional resident properly files a Form I-751 or Form I-829, their conditional status is automatically extended for 18 months, which is shown on the receipt notice they receive. With this update, the receipt notice will automatically grant conditional residents a 24 month extension to their conditional Green Card.

Further, USCIS will issue new receipt notices to conditional residents with pending I-751 or I-829 cases, which were properly filed before September 4, 2021. These new notices will also provide the automatic extension of the resident’s Green Card for 24 months.
